Feature: Trainspotting 20 Years...Begbie's Rig
Francis "Franco" Begbie - The pyscho scot with a well put together wardrobe of casual garms
So the other day, twitter was scattered with the news; Danny Boyle's Trainspotting was 20 years old. Where does the time go?
Of course, this meant a quick trip to the high-street blockbuster (Netflix) to re-watch an old classic.
Apart from being a darkly hilarious tale of addicts and psychopaths, it's notable how greatly cinematic late 80's Britain looks, amongst the squalor and er, Smack.
Something I can't remember noticing before was Franco Begbie and his wonderfully put together garments. Described as a slightly-camp Ian Rush look, it encompasses the late 80's mix of casual, post-casual, branded, hardman with a label clobber. Here's some of the best bits.
Yellow Diamond Pringle and Stay Prest Trouser - Ideal for a day of pool and the occasional glassing
Franco has a penchant for sensible v-necks, with pastel polos, though this does make him susceptible to eye-witnesses in an armed robbery
Pastel colours again at play, Begbie's never afraid to go pink...
...or purple
